04/17/2020: Update from Superintendent Yolanda Brunt regarding emergency measures related to current pandemic:

Version en Espanol

Greetings Bulldog Families,

It is hard to believe it has been four weeks since the school was in session. I can picture it as if it was just yesterday.  Oh, how I miss greeting the students as they exited the buses, the handshakes, the smiles, hugs, jokes, laughter, “Good Things” and so much more.  Although the Executive Order 2020-35 suspends our face to face instruction, we must all forge ahead together to restore the learning to ensure students have the skills to be successful in the upcoming school year.  To ALL of my beloved students, this means the learning is back in session.

Over the past few weeks,  the Administrative staff has worked diligently with the support of VBISD staff to develop the Continuity of Learning & COVID-19 Response Plan.  I am happy to inform you that the plan was submitted and approved by the VBISD.

Middle/High school teachers will be connecting with students through Google Classroom or Google Meets.  Packets will be sent home with the food deliveries for students who are not able to access the internet.  Please note: the Covert Library parking lot is a place you can go to connect to WiFi.  Below is the schedule that MS/HS teachers will use for students who are able to connect to the internet.  Students will be contacted daily by one of their teachers via email, a phone call or Google Meet.

Elementary student learning packets will be delivered with the food on April 22nd. Students in grades 3-5 that have the internet are able to connect with their teachers through Google Classroom. Elementary teachers have gotten very creative and you may see youtube videos or connect on FaceBook.  More information will be included with the learning packets. We suggest if you have Elementary and Middle/High School students that you create a schedule in the morning for Elementary.  We know many parents are still working. If your High School student is watching younger siblings during the day, we recommend having the younger siblings practice independent reading, math facts, or work on an art activity while the High School student is working on his/her classwork.

Thank you for your continued patience, commitment, and support as we navigate through this learning experience.  Although it will look a little different than what our students are used to, we are confident that they will adjust and rise to the learning expectations.  If you are looking for more information, please click on the remote learning icon located on the right side of the district web site.  We will continue to share new information in the weeks to come as it becomes available to us. Hopefully, many questions will be answered.

Bulldog Strong!
