Dear Covert Public Schools Parents, Staff, and Community Members:

On April 9th, Governor Whitmer provided an update on our state’s rapidly rising numbers of COVID-19 positive cases.  With this information comes great responsibility on everyone’s part to continue to be mindful of the safety precautions that have been put in place since the beginning of the school year.

As we plan to resume in-person learning,  Monday, April 12th, we need your help to ensure everyone at Covert Public Schools remains safe.  The expectation is for all staff to continue completing the MI Symptoms health screener daily.  The link can be found on the website under staff as a dropdown option.  Parents, please remember to keep your student(s) home if they are sick and/or experiencing a temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, an uncontrolled cough that causes difficulty breathing, the onset of severe headache, diarrhea, and/or vomiting or unusual belly pain and body aches.

Our greatest priority is the safety of our students, staff, and community members. The District will continue to follow the cleaning and safety protocols established and will also maintain social distancing to the extent feasible. All staff and students are required to wear their masks throughout the day.  While our procedures established to mitigate the spread of the virus within the school environment have been successful, we know COVID variants are rapidly evolving and can now be spread at a significantly faster rate.

As of today, we have no reported cases.  However, in the spirit of transparency, we will notify you if any new cases should arise.  The information will be posted on the COVID-19 Dashboard located on our website as well.  We will also continue working closely with the Van Buren Cass County Health Department.

Covert has faced and rose above the many challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.  We press onward with grit and determination to finish the school year strong.  Let us pause for a moment and look at how far we have come and know that WE, WILL, CONTINUE TO WALK THROUGH THIS TOGETHER!

Bulldog Strong,
