An update (03/25/2020) from Superintendent Yolanda Brunt regarding emergency measures related to current pandemic:

Dear Covert Families,

Thank you for your patience, flexibility, kindness, and understanding through this unprecedented time in our world. It is difficult to process and understand but I know together we will get through this,  BULLDOG STRONG!  A special thanks to our kitchen staff, transportation, custodial, paraprofessionals, office staff, supervisors, teacher volunteers and administrative team for your collaboration and spirit of love and concern for our students.  Last week we delivered over 5,180 meals to our students.

Food Delivery

We will continue to deliver food to families on Wednesdays between 9:30 A.M. and 11:30 A.M. The March 25th delivery will include breakfast and lunch for one week (7 days).  The April 1st delivery will include breakfast and lunch for 2 weeks due to Spring Break. For students who walk to school, there will be a bus parked in the Covert library parking lot.  Parents or students can pick up food during the indicated times. If you are not home when the delivery is made, you may pick up the food on the indicated dates in front of the main entrance from 12:30 P.M. - 2:00 P.M.

Academic Work During Shutdown

On March 13th, Covert Public Schools created supplemental opportunities for all students to do at home as part of our ongoing commitment to help parents provide an education to children in our school district during the school closure. By providing these learning opportunities, we hope that our students will be engaged, enriched and stimulated academically.   These resources are not intended to be “assignments” as students would normally experience during the regular operation of the school.  We will continue to work to ensure resources are available to all learners so we are not in violation of State law and the Office of Civil Rights.
-Students are not required to complete any of the learning opportunities.
-There will be no grades given for the learning opportunities.
-Participation in these learning opportunities will not impact an overall course grade.

Governor’s "Stay Home, Stay Safe" Executive Order

To suppress the spread of COVID-19 virus, The Governor has directed residents to remain at home or in their residence to the maximum extent feasible.  This order is in effect from March 24th through April 13th, 2020.  Our Spring Break is currently scheduled to take place from April 6th through April 10th.  As of now, students will return to school on April 14th.
Social Distancing - Our students will want to socialize and spend time with friends.  We need to help them understand the importance of keeping everyone safe.  This includes the recommendation of the Center for Disease and Prevention of not allowing them to spend time at their friends’ houses.

The situation is fluid as our governmental, health agencies, legal and educational officials try to understand the COVID-19 virus and its global impact.  Please continue to check the district website, district Facebook page, and your voicemail & email for the most up-to-date information.

Bulldog Strong,
Yolanda Brunt
